What year did your business start?
Goodwood Hardware was started in 1996 and moved to its current location on Jefferson Hwy in 2002.
What are some interesting facts about your business?
Goodwood Hardware started out as a local hardware store of 8,000 sq ft and has expanded to meet a variety of consumer’s outdoor needs in our current 40,000 sq ft location. We listen to the needs of our customers to grow and expand accordingly. We pride ourselves on being able to provide a personal feel with a big box store variety. Goodwood Hardware is family friendly and pet friendly, many of our valued customers stop in regularly to see our “hardware cat” named tab. One thing that makes us stand out is the knowledge and experience that backs up our products. So whether you need advice on a project or need to know where to get something we do not specialize in we always can be of service.
What made you want to start your business?
After working in various industries the Boyd family found themselves on rough times after the head of the family was downsized from his job. While deciding what their family’s next step would be, their local hardware store had a going out of business sale which prompted them to buy the entire stock and take over the lease. Over 19 years later the family is closer than ever and still working hard so that no one in their family will ever have to feel the unease of being without a job. As independently owned hardware store we are quite proud of our roots.
What are your main products?
Goodwood Hardware specializes in Outdoor Products. Whether it is Cooking Equipment, Patio Furniture, Tailgating Gear or more we have something for everyone. We still do stay true to our roots and carry everything a local hardware store should while also pushing our boundaries with specialty items. One stop at here and you can furnish your patio, stock your kitchen, load up on LSU apparel and gather any odds and ends for home repair projects.
How many employees do you employ?
Currently we employee between 20 – 30 people and are always taking applications to expand our Goodwood Family.
How do you give back to the community?
Here at Goodwood Hardware we pride ourselves as being a part of our community. In times of need such as hurricanes we are one of the first stores to open allowing people access to necessities such as batteries, gas cans, bottled water and more. Throughout the year we give to various charities, the closest to our hearts being St. Judes and Breast Cancer Awareness. For the past three years we have hosted a Block Party which is a way to show our customers appreciation with entertainment, free food and fun. We also host an annual Christmas party with the same intent of giving back to the customers who made us who we are today.
Do you have any new products or special announcements?
We plan to grow and expand alongside our community and urge everyone to keep on the lookout for our next events and promotions!
